about the products we use
STERLING SILVER
Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. It can be antiqued or given a high polish. We use both antiqued and polished beads. Sterling silver is a soft metal and the nature of this is that it can scratch or tarnish easily. This can be minimized if cared for properly.
SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS
Our crystal is genuine 32% lead "Strauss" crystal from Swarovski of Austria. The beautiful rainbows produced by this crystal have made Austrian Crystal Chandeliers famous around the world. These tend to be a little more expensive than other crystal types but they have the best sparkle and flash. Swarovski crystal pearls are used occasionally in some of our designs. These are crystals that have been coated with a pearl luster to give them the look of a high luster pearl with that perfect shape. Swarovski stands behind their product and guarantee that the finish of these pearls will last.
BIRTHSTONE CRYSTALS
Our Birthstone Crystals are all Swarovski Crystals. Common Gemstone names have been given to the crystals that most resemble them.
LAMPWORK BEADS
Lampworking was developed in Africa more then 3000 years ago. They used an open flame known as a lamp and a blowpipe to introduce oxygen to create a hot flame that would crudely melt glass. Current torches are still referred to as lamps hence the name “Lampworking”. Glass comes in a wide array of colors and to create each bead the colors are applied and melted individually onto each bead, ultimately making each bead a work of art in itself.
GOLD-FILLED BEADS
Unlike gold plated jewelry that only uses a microscopic film of gold, (hence the gold coming off). Gold filled jewelry actually has a layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film. You will often see it labeled 14k gold filled which means it is at least 14/20th gold by weight.
what size do i need?
To determine the bracelet size you need, measure wrist with a soft flexible measuring tape. If you are like me and the trying to find a soft flexible measuring tape will cause you too much stress, then use a ribbon, a piece of string, or a strand of cooked spaghetti, you get the idea. Mark the length then measure with a ruler. Now that you’ve done that, add 1” to 1 ¼” to that length. If you like them to move a lot then add the larger and so on. *Infants and children add 1/2" to 3/4".
